The simple answer is: during pregnancy.
Many parents are surprised to learn that newborn photography is usually booked several months before their baby arrives. The ideal time to reserve your session is after your 20-week scan, when you have a better idea of your due date and can start planning for your baby's arrival.

Why Book During Pregnancy?
Newborn photography is unlike most other types of photography.
Because newborns are best photographed within the first couple of weeks after birth, photographers can't simply fit sessions into their calendar at short notice.
When you book during pregnancy, I reserve space around your due date rather than booking a fixed session date. Once your baby arrives, we'll confirm the exact day for your session.
This means you can relax knowing everything is already organised before your baby is born.
When Is The Best Age For Newborn Photos?
For traditional newborn portraits, the ideal time is usually between 5 and 14 days old.
During these early days, babies tend to:
