​Christmas Mini Session Guide 2024

The Christmas season is a time for joy, love, and cherished memories with your family. At our Christmas Mini Sessions, we aim to capture the magic and wonder of the season through beautiful, timeless portraits. This detailed guide will help you prepare for your session so that you and your family can enjoy a smooth and memorable experience.

1. What to Expect During Your Session

Our Christmas Mini Sessions are designed to be fun, festive, and quick to fit into your busy schedule. Each session lasts approximately 20-30 minutes, giving us enough time to capture a variety of poses and candid moments. Our goal is to create a warm and cozy atmosphere that feels like stepping into a winter wonderland.

Tips:

• Relax and Have Fun: The best photos are those where everyone is genuinely happy. Enjoy the moment, and don’t stress over small details.
• Communicate Special Requests: If you have any specific ideas or poses in mind, let us know ahead of time.
• Prepare Younger Children: Familiarise young children with the idea of the photoshoot by talking about it positively beforehand.

2. Location Details

The session will take place at my cozy home studio:

• Address: 13 Curlew Gardens, Guildford, Surrey, GU4 7DY
• Studio Location: Ground floor, entrance through the side gate to the right of the main entrance.
• Parking: Available in the garage area to the left, behind the property (see map below). Red area indicates parking; blue dot marks the studio location.

Balance Due: Outstanding balance is due in cash on the day of your session:

£70 for Standard, £130 for Premium.

*returning clients will receive 1 additional edited digital image of they choice.

4. Themes

• Outdoor Snowy Winter Scene:

Experience a magical winter wonderland with festive Christmas trees, snow, and lights. The setup includes a family bench, a kids’ bench, a post box, sleigh, and snowballs for added fun.

• Elegant & Cozy Christmas Fireplace Scene:

A warm, candlelit fireplace surrounded by presents, with a colour palette of white, silver, green, gold, and copper. Props include a teddy bear, books, presents, a rocking horse, a family sofa for a cozy holiday feel.

5. What to Bring

Please feel free to bring 1-2 outfits per family member and arrive dressed in your first outfit for the indoor fireplace scene. If you are going to wear shoes/boots in the studio please make sure they are clean, we want the artificial snow to stay as white and clean as possible.

Outdoor Snowy Winter Scene:

• Recommended: Christmas jumper, coat, winter hat, scarf, and boots.
• Colours: Red, tartan, white, silver, gold, copper, brown, or green.
• Tip: Bring letters to Santa for added holiday magic. (letters will be provided if you don’t have it)

Cozy Fireplace Scene:

• Ideal outfits: Christmas jumper, shirt or dress.
• Colours: Green, silver, gold, copper, brown, green, cream, or white.

Extras:

Pack tissues or wet wipes and a hairbrush for touch-ups. If you like you can bring along small, non-messy treats to offer as a reward for cooperation. For younger children, a comfort item like a stuffed animal can help ease any nerves.

6. Wardrobe Tips 

Snowy Winter Scene:

• Festive colours like red, green, gold, and silver add warmth. Scarves and hats enhance the cozy winter look. 

Christmas Fireplace Scene:

• Opt for Christmas jumpers or neutral clothing in shades like cream, white, beige, green, gold, or silver for a timeless feel.

Coordinating Outfits:

• While matching isn’t required, coordinating colours help create a harmonious look.

Avoid:

• Neon colours, all black, busy patterns, and character-themed outfits (like Peppa Pig or Minions) as they may clash with the holiday setups.

Personal Touches:

• Feel free to bring special props for a personal touch. If you need help with outfits, reach out—I’m happy to help!

7. Session Guidelines

Who Can Join?

Each session accommodates one family (up to 6 people: 2 adults and 4 children). For photos with another family, please book back-to-back sessions.

Arrival Time:

Please arrive no more than 5 minutes early. Arriving over 15 minutes late may result in a forfeited deposit and session spot.

During the Session:

I’ll capture various images during the 30-minute session. You’ll receive a private online gallery link within two days to select your favourites, with options to upgrade your package or order additional items.

After the Session:

Final, fully edited images will be available for download within 1–2 weeks after gallery selection.
