​Christmas Mini Session Guide 2025

The Christmas season is a time for joy, love, and cherished memories with your family. Our Christmas mini sessions are designed to capture that festive spirit in beautiful, timeless images you’ll treasure for years to come. This detailed guide will help you prepare for your session so that you and your family can enjoy a smooth and memorable experience.

1. What to Expect During Your Session

Session Length & Flow

Each session lasts approximately 30 minutes.

• Within that time, I’ll aim to capture a mix of styles: family portraits, parent + children, individual shots, and fun candid moments.
• We use two different Christmas setups (see “Themes” below), giving you nice variety.
• After the session, you’ll receive a private online gallery to pick your favourite images.
• Your edited images will typically be delivered within 1–2 weeks after your selection.

Atmosphere & Approach

• My intention is for the session to feel warm, relaxed, and joyful, like stepping into a little Christmas story.
• You don’t need to “perform” every moment, often the best shots are when families laugh, interact naturally, or share little spontaneous moments.
• If you have special requests, a particular pose, prop, or combination, feel free to tell me in advance. The more I know, the better I can plan.

Gallery & Ordering

• After the shoot, you’ll be sent a gallery link (within ~2 days) to choose your images.
• From there you can upgrade your package or order any "add ons".
• The gallery is a private, password-protected space, so you can view in your own time and share only as you wish.

2. Location Details

Studio Address

• Address: 13 Curlew Gardens, Guildford, Surrey, GU4 7DY
• The studio is on the ground floor, accessible via the side gate to the right of the main entrance.
• There is dedicated parking in the garage area behind the property.

Arrival Timing

• Please arrive on time but no more than 5 minutes early.
• Arriving more than 15 minutes late may unfortunately cause us to run out of time.
• If you're early, feel free to wait in your car, you will receive a text message when we are ready for you to come in.

Who Can Join?

• Each session accommodates one family (up to 6 people: 2 adults + 4 children).
• If you’d like to photograph with another family (e.g. grandparents or cousins), you can book back-to-back sessions.

3. Themes and Setups

We offer two seasonal setups to give your images variety:

Winter Wonderland Scene

• Experience a magical Winter Wonderland with Christmas trees, snow, and lights.
• The setup includes a family bench, a kids’ bench, sleigh and snowballs for added fun.
• Colour palette inspiration: white, silver, gold, forest green, earthy brown.

Christmas Fireplace Scene

• A warm, cozy fireplace surrounded by candle lights, Christmas trees, toys and presents.
• Colour inspiration: red, tartan, forest green, gold, and earthy browns.
• The setup includes a steam train, novelty toys, teddy bears, books and presents.
• Great for capturing that cozy, traditional “Christmas at home” feeling.

Your 30-minute session begins with the cozy Fireplace scene before moving into the enchanting Winter Wonderland, so you get a blend of both festive setups.

4. What to Bring and Wear

Outfits & Wardrobe Guidance

• You’re welcome to bring 1–2 outfits per person.
• Please arrive dressed in your first outfit for the fireplace setup.
• Shoes & boots should be clean if brought into the studio, we want the artificial snow to stay as white and clean as possible.
• Coordinating — not matching — is ideal: variations in tones and textures help images look more natural.

Winter Wonderland Scene:

• Recommended: Christmas jumper, coat, winter hat, scarf, and boots.
• Colours: Red, tartan, white, silver, gold, copper, brown, or green.

Christmas Fireplace Scene:

• Ideal outfits: Christmas jumper, shirt, dress or pyjama.
• Colours: Green, tartan, red, gold, copper or brown.

Styling Tips

• Use layers and textures — scarves, hats, cardigans, etc. — to add depth.
• Accessories are lovely (hats, headbands).
• Keep hair ties, watches, or wristbands minimal on your wrist, as these can leave marks or distract.
• If you need help with outfits, reach out—I’m happy to help!

What to Avoid

• Bright neons, extremely bold prints, or large graphic logos distract.
• All-black outfits (they can absorb details) or overly busy patterns.
• Character-themed clothes (e.g. cartoons) unless it’s part of your vision.

Extras to Pack

• Tissues / wet wipes
• Hairbrush for last-minute touch-ups
• Small non-messy treats for the children
• A beloved comfort item (stuffed animal, small toy) for younger children
• Optional special prop (if you have a sentimental item you’d like included)

5. Session Guidelines and Tips

During the Session

• Relax and Have Fun, the best photos are those where everyone is genuinely happy.
• Enjoy the moment, don’t stress over small details.
• Each session lasts approximately 30 minutes, giving us enough time to capture a variety of poses and candid moments.

Getting Children Involved

• Familiarise young children with the idea of the photoshoot by talking about it positively beforehand.
• For younger children, assure them they don’t need to “sit still perfectly” — natural is okay.
• Your positive energy helps kids feel confident and cooperative.
• Use treats or incentives for cooperation, but be gentle and flexible (we want joy, not pressure).
• I might ask a parent to gently redirect a child’s attention or whisper a little joke — this often brings out the most natural, joyful smiles.

6. Add ons, upgrades and pricing.

Outstanding balance is due in cash on the day of your session: £70 (Standard Collection), £120 (Premium Collection)

Return clients receive one extra edited digital image of their choice as a thank you.

7. Terms & Conditions (Highlights)

• By booking, you agree to our full Terms & Conditions ( terms and conditions).
• Late arrival beyond 15 minutes may result in reducing time or lost deposit.
• The deposit is non-refundable.
• The images in your gallery are copyrighted — usage rights are granted to you for personal display and print use, but not for commercial use (unless otherwise agreed).
